A little girl dreams of being a Princess. Beautiful dresses. Gorgeous jewels. Royal tea parties.
I had the privilege of joining Haleigh and her sweet friends for a precious princess birthday party and was given the gift of making some of those innocent dreams come true.
What a joyous time as I walked up the front sidewalk in my glass slippers listening to them standing at the front door screaming, "It's Cinderella!" Sweet Haleigh asked with bewilderment, "Are you real?" After pinching my arm for proof, she exclaimed with conclusion to her royal guests, "SHE REALLY IS REAL!!!"
We dressed them up in princess gowns, fixed their hair and make-up, and completed their look with matching tiaras and accessories. Then it was dancing time! Cinderella taught them a few boogie moves but then the Birthday girl shared a sweet dance with her true Prince Charming, her Daddy. The room filled with mommy tears as Jason swept Haleigh off of her feet to Steven Curtis Chapman's song, Cinderella. Next, time for tea.
Each pretty princess watched very carefully as I sipped my "tea" and peeled my cupcake...making sure to mimic every dainty movement I made. I then shared Shelia Walsh's book, Gigi, God's Little Princess, making sure each understood that to be a true Princess, we must be a Daughter of the King.
After pictures with each of God's little Princesses, my clock struck midnight, (well, 4:00 anyway) and I had to whisk away quickly before my coach turned back into a pumpkin. But not before I secretly slipped up to Haleigh's bedroom to leave her a rose, glass slipper, and note from Cinderella,
"To God's Little Princess: May you always dream as a Daughter of the King and may all of your Dreams come True. With Love, Cinderella."
